About This Place

Located in the heart of Big Sky, Montana, Broken Spoke Bar & Casino perfectly captures the nostalgic charm of this mountain town’s earlier days. Nestled at 120 Big Pine Dr, this welcoming bar and casino is a beloved local haunt where the spirit of Big Sky lives on. Whether you're looking to unwind over a cold beer, challenge friends to a game of pool, or soak in some live music, Broken Spoke offers an authentic slice of Montana nightlife.

Step inside and you'll immediately feel the warm, unpretentious atmosphere that sets this spot apart. Eric Accornero captured it well when he said it “feels like going back to the days when Big Sky was a blip on the map.” This is a place where locals gather, and visitors quickly feel like part of the community. The bar’s friendly vibe is complemented by practical yet inviting features like three upstairs pool tables that remain a constant source of fun. As Zach Emerson notes, the $1 per game rate here is a steal, and the occasional live music adds to the timeless appeal.

Broken Spoke Bar & Casino also features a modest but spirited casino floor, providing another layer of entertainment for guests eager to try their luck. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a casual visitor, the variety keeps the energy lively without overwhelming the down-to-earth character of the venue.

One unique aspect of Broken Spoke is its relaxed approach to food: while the bar doesn't serve meals, you’re welcome to bring your own, making it an ideal spot to pair your favorite snacks—perhaps those fan-favorite fried cheese curds you might find nearby—with a cold drink. Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 pm, offering great value on drinks and keeping spirits high.

Events like open mic nights further enrich the experience, showcasing great local talent and creating a true gathering place for the Big Sky community. Deanna highlights the vibe perfectly: “Lots of great talent. Definitely a locals joint.” For those seeking authenticity, safety, and good times, Broken Spoke takes seriously the responsibility that comes with serving adults; robust ID checks ensure a secure and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Whether you're seeking a friendly spot to enjoy a casual night out, want to test your pool skills, or simply soak up a genuine slice of Big Sky history, Broken Spoke Bar & Casino stands out as a must-visit destination. Its blend of nostalgia, entertainment, and community spirit leaves a lasting impression, making you feel like part of something special—even if Big Sky is no longer just a “blip on the map.”

Upstairs pool hall has 3 tables and is always fun. 1$ per game. Live music from time to time. Drinks are solid and beer is always cold.

No food but you can bring your own. Not a lot of young kids unless it's karaoke or open mike. They scan every ID. Happy hr 4-7pm
